Preservation

Being one of the Philippines’ national repositories of cultural and written heritage, the University Library has initiatives to ensure that its collection is preserved for future generations.

The Filipiniana Books section has a policy of keeping a preservation copy of their texts, supplemented by up to five circulation copies for regularly borrowed books.

The Media Services section create preservation copies of their AV collection by migrating their analog format (ex. VHS) to digital format whenever possible.

The Special Collections section preserve the out-of-print books and paintings in the Rare Books rooms, a light and temperature-controlled room.

LIS 174 Digital Preservation is an elective course offered by the School of Library and Information Studies. It is an introduction to the principles and practices in processing, handling, archiving, and facilitating access to digital materials.
