This April 15, the University Library invites us to celebrate World Art Day by taking a moment to appreciate some of the breathtaking artworks preserved within the library's Special Collections Section and to know the incredible artists behind them.

Let this day remind us of the value of art in all its forms, and how it has shaped and preserved our cultures, histories, and experiences as people from different walks of life. Let us remember those moments when a scene in a movie, a line in a book, the chorus of a song, or the details of an artwork took our breath away and stayed with us for more than just a moment.

Discover more artworks at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila, or check out the artworks housed by the library’s Special Collections Section, or explore local exhibits in your area. But if you're feeling inspired, why not make something yourself? Don't worry, it doesn't have to be a masterpiece, it just has to be you!

Kanopy is an on-demand streaming video platform for public libraries and universities that offers viewers a large collection of award-winning films and documentaries.

March 24th commemorates the "International Day for

March 24th commemorates the "International Day for the Right to the Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims". This originates from the legacy of Saint Óscar Arnulfo Romero, a Roman Catholic Archbishop from El Salvador, active and outspoken critic of the human rights abuse during the Salvadorian Civil War in 1979 to 1992.

He vehemently defended the poor and the most vulnerable populations caught defenseless between the crossfire. His unyeilding advocacy for human rights led him to both be hero, and a target to constant threats, and was later assassinated in 1980 while conducting mass.

This day honors the memory of victims of gross human rights violations, and pays tribute to those who have fought and sacrificed their lives to protect human rights. The Right to Truth is to archive, record, and narrate the unflinching reality of gross violations of human rights.

To mark this occasion on Women's Month, the University Library features authors Lualhati Bautista and Ninotchka Rosca, whose life and work struck the Philippines for their critique, and unflinching narrative of the severe human rights violations towards the Filipino people during the Martial Law
